In recent years the city s population has grown massively and in 2008 it was the 7th most populated area in England. Manchester s history date well back into the 1st century but as a city it is noted down the most in the history books during the Industrial revolution and also the birth of capitalism. The big change happened in Manchester after the 1996 Manchester bombing that was planted next to a department store by the IRA. It was from event that Manchester started on its redevelopment and transformation to the modern city we know of today.
