Shopping in Manchester
Shopping in Manchester is like shopping no-where else in the UK, it is a must for all shopaholics! They have everything you could possibly what from high street to top designer names to vintage on off items, whatever you fancy you can finish it off with a cocktail at one of Manchester's many trendy bars.
If those of you who are into your designer buys you will want to head down to King street, along here you will be able to indulge in items from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Armani, DO and DKNY. From Kings Street will find yourself on New Cathedral Street where you will find the higher end high street stores like, French Connection. On Cathedral Street you also have a double whammy of department store with Selfridges and Harvey Nichols opposite one another. Harvey Nichols will treat you to the likes of Marc Jacobs and Jimmy Choo, so it's defiantly worth saving for!! If its high street you are looking for you can head to the Arndale centre, in there you will find your flagship high street stores like Topshop and Next, the largest Next store in the world!
There is also of course the extremely well known Trafford centre the most expensive and the biggest shopping centre in the UK. The centre has 4 areas, Regent Crescent, The Dome, Peel Avenue and The Orient. All 4 areas have different shops in them; Peel Avenue has the likes of; H & M, Boots, John Lewis, Apple and Marks & Spencer. The Dome area as the likes of Selfridges, and then Regent Crescent has the likes of Debenhams, Jane Norman, Cap and BHS.
The Orient part of the centre is made up of a 20 inch screen cinema, the Namco Centre complete with Arcade games, bowling, miniature golf, dodgems and a Laser Quest tag arena. There is also huge food court that seats well over 1,000 people, there are also a number of bars, restaurants and cafe. This area of the Trafford centre is open till a least midnight everyday of the week.
If you are the type of person who likes to find vintage items that no-one else will have then you want to head straight to the bohemian area of Manchester; a city that is known for its creativity in music and fashion which is why there are so many great one-off shops. You can hit the likes of Retro Rehab, Pop Boutique or Junk, all of which have vintage items without looking like a jumble sale.
A must visit is the very creative and total one-off store of Rags to Bitches, this is more than your average vintage shop. As well as being able shop in Rags to Bitches you will get a free cake and even a tarot reading if you want one! You are able to get custom made designs just for you to make your items even more individual. The shop also sometimes turns into a disco holding some great social nights out!
It's not just vintage clothing you will find, you can head to the shop Hussian the Barbers where you will find some absolute treats! Collector's items fill the selves from all over the globe. As well great shoes you can also have your pick of some amazing handmade one-off jewellery at the Craft and Design centre. There is also Kiss My Feet, a great shop for one-off items including handbags, jewellery, shoes and belts.
